Multi-million dollar boost for contemporary music

WA’s McGowan Labor Government has announced a $3 million fund to support the state’s bands and musicians as part of the 2018-19 budget.

Western Australian bands, musicians and music industry members will soon reap the benefits of a new Contemporary Music Fund.

The four year, $3 million fund – originally promised during the election campaign which delivered power to the McGowan Labor Government – is designed to support and grow the state’s contemporary music sector.

Richard Watts is ArtsHub's National Performing Arts Editor; he also presents the weekly program SmartArts on Three Triple R FM, and serves as the Chair of La Mama Theatre's volunteer Committee of Management.
