About the role
Join ACMI as a casual VX Guide for our new exhibition Game Worlds. Opening in September 2025 Game Worlds is our new playable exhibition featuring 30 iconic games including World of Warcraft, The Sims and Neopets. ACMI’s VX Guides are responsible for operational delivery of Game Worlds and our other public facing programs. We are currently recruiting for VX Guides to join our Front of House and Ticketing teams.
- VX Guide – Front of House (FOH): in this role you will perform gallery invigilation, deliver talks, tours and introductions to visiting groups as required.
- VX Guide – Ticketing: in addition to FOH shifts this role also works in ticketing welcoming visitors, providing information about events/activities, selling tickets to films/exhibitions/events and processing memberships.
What you’ll bring to the role
- Demonstrated experience in delivering high quality customer service with the ability to confidently sell and promote the museum’s paid offers.
- Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage members of the public by presenting a working knowledge of exhibition concepts to enhance the visitor experience. Experience delivering talks and tours to groups.
- Demonstrated ability to work flexibly and collaboratively in a diverse visitor experience team with the capacity to learn and apply new skills, processes and procedures.
- The ability to operate calmly and effectively in an environment of high visitor volumes, including school groups, ensuring the safety of visitors and exhibition works.
- For ticketing roles we’re looking for ticketing experience, preferably using Tessitura, with the ability to process sales and reconcile takings.

- This Grade 2 role is offered on a casual basis with a casual hourly rate of $35.83 plus super and allowances. ACMI is looking for flexible team members who are available to work weekdays, weekends and/or evenings. A current Victorian Working with Children Check is required for successful applicants.
