In 2026, QMF will deliver more than 15 events for live audiences of over 15,000 people across regional and remote Queensland.

About the Opportunity

This is a hands-on Touring & Production Manager role for an experienced production professional ready to step in and lead delivery.

Working closely with the GM Production & Delivery, you’ll take responsibility for the operational planning and delivery of technical production across QLD Music Trails, with an immediate focus on delivering the Outback Trail, followed by the Reef Trail later in 2026.

You’ll lead contractors and suppliers, manage production schedules and operational budgets, and oversee on-site delivery to ensure events are delivered safely, smoothly and to a high standard. This role suits someone who thrives in live event environments, enjoys problem-solving under pressure, and takes pride in delivering complex events in regional and remote locations.

This role is offered as a full-time, fixed-term position for up to two years. QMF is open to discussing alternative contract durations for highly experienced candidates, depending on delivery requirements and availability.

What You’ll Be Doing

Production

  • Lead the operational delivery of technical production across build, delivery and pack-down, coordinating lighting, sound, staging, rigging and site infrastructure to deliver safe, high-quality live events in regional and remote locations.
  • Plan and deliver production requirements for the Outback and Reef Trails 2026, working closely with the GM Production & Delivery to meet approved budgets and timelines.
  • Manage production schedules, resources and operational budgets, engaging and leading contractors and suppliers and escalating risks where required.
  • Oversee on-site delivery, coordinating teams and contractors to ensure events run smoothly from build through to pack-down..

 Event Site & Safety

  • Responsible for the operational delivery of site safety, implementing approved EMP’s, supporting permits and compliance, and responding to incidents as required.
  • You’ll proactively identify and manage site-based risks and hazards, ensure contractors and suppliers comply with WHS requirements, and contribute to post-event safety reviews, capturing learnings to support continuous improvement.

 Systems and Procurement

  • Coordinate contracting and procurement processes to support timely, compliant supplier engagement, working within approved delegations and financial controls. This includes administering contracts and purchase orders, supporting budget tracking and reconciliation, and maintaining accurate records across production, finance and project management systems.
  • You’ll also contribute to the development and continuous improvement of operational systems, templates and processes, helping strengthen delivery capability,

About You

You’re an experienced production professional who is calm under pressure, highly organised and comfortable leading delivery in live event environments.

You enjoy being on the ground, solving problems in real time, and working closely with artists, production teams, suppliers and communities to make complex events happen, often in extraordinary locations. You bring:

  • Strong experience in touring, production or live event delivery (arts, music or festivals)
  • Confidence leading contractors, suppliers and technical teams
  • A practical, solutions-focused mindset and sound judgement under pressure
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build trust quickly  
  • Willingness to travel extensively and work weekends during delivery periods
