Marriner Group is a dynamic Australian-owned company, managing five world-class entertainment and event venues including the Princess Theatre, Regent Theatre, Comedy Theatre, Forum Melbourne, and the Plaza Ballroom. Based in Melbourne’s CBD, our venues host some of the world’s most celebrated live music, theatre and events.
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Security Operations Manager to lead and develop our security teams across Marriner Group venues, with a primary focus on live music at Forum Melbourne. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who enjoys working with people, building high-performing teams and creating safe, welcoming environments for patrons, performers and staff. You’ll bring a strong understanding of live events and crowd management, along with the ability to lead and mentor teams through fast-paced and ever-changing environments.
About the Role
Reporting to the Head of Access and Security, the Security Operations Manager is a senior on-site leader responsible for overseeing security operations, with a primary focus on live music at Forum Melbourne. You’ll spend much of your time working alongside security teams during events, providing leadership, mentoring and support in a fast-paced environment. As a key member of the venue leadership team, you’ll play an important role in delivering safe, welcoming and well-run experiences for patrons, performers and staff while maintaining high standards of crowd management, professionalism and customer service.
While primarily based at Forum Melbourne, the role also supports security operations across other Marriner Group venues as required and provides operational and administrative support to the Head of Access and Security. Given the nature of live entertainment, flexibility to work evenings and weekends is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide visible, on-the-floor leadership of security operations at Forum Melbourne and across Marriner Group venues, fostering safe, secure and welcoming environments
- Lead, mentor and support security guards and supervisors, setting clear expectations for performance, conduct and customer service
- Oversee crowd management, access control, entry points and public areas, including securing venues at the conclusion of events
- Lead and support responses to complex or high-risk incidents, liaising with venue management and emergency services when required
- Support recruitment, onboarding, training and development of security staff in collaboration with the Head of Access and Security
- Manage performance, coaching and corrective action in line with company policies
- Champion a strong customer service culture, ensuring professional presentation, respectful interactions and high standards at all times
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, licensing requirements, OH&S obligations and emergency procedures
- Oversee incident reporting, show reports and operational documentation, analysing trends and contributing to continuous improvement
- Act as a key member of the venue leadership team during events, collaborating with operational teams to support the safe and successful delivery of live entertainment experiences.

You are a people-focused leader who enjoys being on the floor, supporting teams and contributing to the successful delivery of live events. You build strong relationships, lead by example and know how to maintain high standards while creating positive experiences for patrons, performers and staff.
You will also bring:
- A current, valid Security Licence
- Demonstrated experience in senior leadership roles
- Experience managing teams in live entertainment, events and customer-facing environments
- Strong understanding of security operations, crowd management and public safety
- A high level of administrative ability
- A current First Aid qualification.
