Regional Arts Services Network (RASN)

Regional Touring Lead

RASN is seeking a Regional Touring Lead to strengthen regional Queensland’s touring ecosystem by developing sustainable touring pathways.

The Regional Touring Lead serves as a strategic catalyst for regional Queensland’s touring ecology. In addition to providing timely, specialised touring advice, information and support, this role actively brokers high-level partnerships across regional local councils, community-led presenters and established presenter networks.

CONTEXT

The Regional Arts Services Network (RASN) is a Queensland Government initiative delivered through Arts Queensland providing a statewide network of support and advice for regional artists and arts workers. This service is delivered through a network of procured RASN Service Providers, each representing specific artforms and areas of practice. Topology has been appointed as a RASN Statewide Service Management Provider to support coordination of the network and provide direct services to artists and arts workers engaging in touring throughout regional and remote Queensland.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Partnership & Circuit Development

  • Identify, negotiate, and establish strategic partnerships with regional councils, community presenters, and established presenter networks to map and create new regional/remote touring circuits.
  • Co-design sustainable business and financial contribution models, decision-making frameworks, and MOUs with regional councils and presenter networks to ensure circuit viability beyond the contract term.
  • Map existing community venue infrastructure and regional presentation capabilities to identify gaps and build sustainable touring pathways.

Brokering & Sector Capacity Building

  • Act as lead broker connecting artists and touring companies with newly established regional presentation networks.
  • Broker and pilot tours across the newly developed circuits, ensuring strong community alignment and audience development strategies.
  • Deliver targeted guidance to regional councils, community presenters, and artists on partnership governance, tour budgeting, risk management, and presenter/producer relationships.
  • Support brokered tours to apply for relevant grant funding.
  • Develop and deliver professional development activities and digital resources to support touring stakeholders.
  • Support engagement between presenters/venues with RASN’s website including introducing new presenters and venues to the platform.

Network Advisory & Sector Services

  • Provide high-quality advice and support to Queensland artists, arts workers, and organisations through in-person and online channels.
  • Engage collaboratively in RASN meetings, workshops, and industry events to represent the network, promote services, and share regional trends and insights.
  • Develop best-practice resources, templates, case studies, and regional profiles to support industry clients and strengthen presenter networks.
  • Undertake regular service delivery reporting and evaluation against agreed KPIs.
  • Work closely with RAAs across the RASN service to provide high level support and insights related to touring of a multitude of artforms.
  • Regular intrastate travel is required.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Demonstrated experience in arts development and sector capacity building.
  • Established artist and presenter networks across regional and remote Queensland, including councils, community presenters and established touring networks.
  • Proven experience negotiating and building strategic, sustainable partnerships across government, community, and the arts sector.
  • Strong understanding of touring business models, including experience negotiating MOUs, co-funding frameworks, financial contribution models, and tour budgets.
  • Experience delivering professional advice, mentoring, or workshops in tour planning, grant writing, and audience development.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and producing tours in regional and remote contexts.
  • Extensive knowledge of funding programs that support touring activities, including the Touring Queensland Fund.
