About the Quarry Amphitheatre

The Quarry Amphitheatre is one of Perth’s most unique and spectacular outdoor metropolitan performance venues. Situated high up on Reabold Hill in the coastal suburb of City Beach, it originally served as a working limestone quarry. Then, in 1986 the site was transformed into the Quarry Amphitheatre we know today through the vision of Ken and Diana Waldron. Since then, hundreds of local and international acts have performed under the stars, delighting audiences in this distinctive, magical setting. The venue also offers picturesque views, making it a popular choice for private function, corporate events, and weddings.

 

The Role

The Quarry Amphitheatre has a bold new strategic plan to increase utilisation and diversify the offered programs and events, aiming to become Perth’s leading outdoor performing arts and function venue.

Driving this is the Quarry Amphitheatre Venue Manager, tasked with developing and facilitating these programs in line with the Quarry’s strategic vision. This role is vital for the effective management and promotion of the Quarry, ensuring its smooth operations and setting a clear strategic direction.

The Town is seeking an individual with substantial experience in stakeholder engagement and management within the cultural and performing arts industry. The ideal candidate will have a proven ability to lead, manage, and collaborate with people at all levels.

What we are looking for:

The successful candidate’s core values will mirror the Town’s values of Friendly and helpful, Teamwork, Creativity, Integrity, and Respect, and be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Significant experience in performing arts venue management, including a sound knowledge of associated cultural, performance, and entertainment industries. Knowledge of related industry trends would be highly regarded.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the regulatory and legislative compliance requirements for venues and events, including a sound working knowledge of requirements relating to liquor licensing.
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic and business planning, financial management, and report writing skills, with proven results in achieving KPIs and managing budgets and contracts.
  • Leadership experience, including managing staff performance and development, to promote a positive work culture with a common vision.
  • High level communication skills, public relations and customer service skills, to support collaborative engagement with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders, vendors, and contractors.
  • A strong understanding of contemporary marketing principles and experience managing social media and marketing, including copywriting and brand management is highly regarded.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Bachelor of Arts (Arts and Cultural Management) and/or equivalent (desirable).

 

Eligibility

  • National Police Clearance (no older than 3 months).
  • Current WA “C” Class Drivers Licence.
  • Ability to work rostered hours including evenings and weekends (Saturday and Sunday).
  • Australian working rights.
