State Opera South Australia was established in 1976 by an Act of Parliament building a remarkable reputation for presenting world-class opera in South Australia, across the nation and internationally.

State Opera is seeking a dynamic Publicity, Events & Partnerships Coordinator to drive media coverage, deliver engaging events, and build impactful partnerships that grow audiences and maximise box office success.

Reporting to the Head of Marketing & Development, you’ll lead publicity strategy, manage media relationships, and create compelling opportunities that elevate our productions. You’ll also plan and deliver a calendar of events—from opening nights to donor experiences—while developing and managing partnerships that enhance brand reach and revenue.

This role suits a proactive and creative communicator with experience in publicity, events, or partnerships. You’ll bring strong organisational skills, excellent writing ability, and confidence working with stakeholders, media, and suppliers in a fast-paced environment.

What You’ll Do

Publicity & Media

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with local and national media
  • Act as the key liaison between senior leadership and media stakeholders
  • Identify and secure publicity opportunities that align with commercial goals
  • Manage external PR agencies and suppliers
  • Develop key messaging and speaking notes for public engagements
  • Collaborate on compelling content for earned and paid media

Events

  • Plan and deliver a vibrant annual events calendar
  • Lead end-to-end event management—from concept to reporting
  • Manage budgets, suppliers, and event logistics
  • Create events that support both commercial and donor engagement objectives

Partnerships

  • Develop proposals and presentations for corporate and media partnerships
  • Ensure delivery of all partnership benefits and activations
  • Track, evaluate, and report on partnership performance
  • Manage partner relationships across their full lifecycle
