Program Manager

Writing NSW is the state’s leading provider of services to writers, including courses, seminars and workshops, writing groups, festivals and events, grants and prizes, and information and advice. 

Writing NSW is looking for a creative and highly organised Program Manager passionate about working with writers at all stages of their careers, who will be responsible for the management of our exciting program of face-to-face and online courses, workshops and events for writers.

Reporting to the CEO, you will lead the program team, including two direct reports, and manage the strategy, development, marketing and implementation of our wide-ranging program.

You will have a vibrant network of contacts within the literature sector, as well as experience in successfully managing events in the arts and/or adult education environment. You will be professional, energetic, flexible, and a proven leader with the ability to inspire staff and make contributions to organisational strategy. Responsive to customer feedback, and with the demonstrated ability to deliver a program on time and on budget, you will have rigorous attention to detail. You will have the ability to manage relationships across all parts of the literature community and represent the organisation with our stakeholders.

This is a part-time position (0.8 / 4 days per week) with occasional weekend and evening work included. The salary package will be based pro-rata off a full-time package of $80-85,000 p.a. including superannuation, depending on experience.

Selection criteria: Program Manager

  • At least three years’ experience managing training programs or events within an arts or adult education environment
  • Demonstrated engagement with writers and the writing community
  • Strong strategic vision, with the ability to lead a team to achieve strategic goals
  • Proven ability to curate a creative program working to a strict budget and schedule
  • Excellence in managing marketing and communications channels in a digital environment
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects at a time with meticulous attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to manage strategic relationships with diverse stakeholders
  • Flexibility and willingness to recognise and respond to the changing needs of writers, the organisation, and the sector as required
  • Located in beautiful Callan Park, Lilyfield, Writing NSW is a not-for-profit organisation that provides support to writers at all stages of their careers. We run a lively program of courses, workshops and events as well as providing a range of services to our members and the broader writing community.
