Producer

Red Stitch seeks a Producer (0.6 FTE) to support productions, programs, touring, and fundraising in a leading ensemble theatre company.

Red Stitch Actors’ Theatre is seeking a Producer (0.6 FTE) to play a key role in delivering the company’s annual program.

Reporting to the Artistic Director and working closely with a small, collaborative team, the Producer will oversee the administrative and producing aspects of Red Stitch’s productions and programs. This includes contracting artists, managing budgets, coordinating touring and partnerships, and supporting the delivery of key initiatives such as the INK Writers Program, Graduate Program, and Education and Engagement activities.

The role also contributes to the company’s fundraising and development activity, supporting grant applications and donor engagement.

Key Responsibilities: 

Producing

  • Manage the administrative aspects of the company, including contracting employees, artists, creative personnel, stage and technical management personnel, and partner organisations.
  • Work with the Artistic Director to liaise with artist management, to negotiate copyright, royalty and license agreements.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures and performance indicators.
  • Support the effective and timely delivery of Red Stitch’s Programs including INK, Graduate Program, Education and Engagement and Red Stitch on Screen, including preparation of education resources.
  • Assist the Artistic Director with preparing reports, presentation materials and statistical data. 
  • Ensure appropriate risk management procedures are developed and implemented.
  • Manage day-to-day smooth running of programs
  • Coordinate planning, budgeting, production and resourcing requirements for programs and activities in collaboration with the Artistic Director and working closely with the Production Manager, Front of House manager and Marketing Coordinator. 
  • Manage project budgets, including budget development, tracking expenditure and reconciliation.
  • Negotiate and coordinate touring partnership agreements.
  • Lead the delivery of all tours managed in-house.
  • Attend rehearsals, production meetings and special events as required.

Development

  • Support the Artistic Director to engage with donors, philanthropic trusts, foundations, and other grantors to build positive relationships, and increase and diversify philanthropic income.
  • Manage the administrative aspects of fundraising campaigns.
  • Prepare, submit, manage and acquit appropriate funding opportunities to support the company, in collaboration with the other staff.
  • Manage contractual agreements and obligations with funding agencies, financial supporters, program partners, and industry stakeholders.

Key Internal Relationships:

  • The Producer reports to the Artistic Director and is part of a team of staff including the Production Manager, Front of House Manager and Marketing Coordinator who work together to support the Ensemble in delivering Red Stitch productions and programs.

Key Selection Criteria

  • Experience in working with a theatre company or arts organisation.  
  • Demonstrated experience in project management.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders and teams.
  • Strong proficiency in budget management. 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and administrative experience. 
  • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills. 
  • High level of motivation and energy and the capacity to meet deadlines, problem solve and manage competing demands. 
  • Strong computer skills for database use and maintenance, email, and Microsoft Office suite.
