Parramatta Lanes Performing Arts Producer

Role Overview
City of Parramatta (CoP) is seeking an experienced Performing Arts Producer to support the curation, development and delivery of the Parramatta Lanes Arts festival cycle.
The Performing Arts Producer plays a central role in shaping the live performance identity of Parramatta Lanes through the conception, development and delivery of a diverse performing arts program.
This role is responsible for the delivery of both minor and major performing arts commissions, including dance, theatre, and interdisciplinary live works, with a particular emphasis on supporting artists and companies based in Western Sydney.
The Performing Arts Producer will lead commissioning processes, working closely with artists from concept development through to presentation, ensuring appropriate mentorship, production support and professional pathways are embedded in the program.
As a Performing Arts Producer, you will:
- Lead commissioning processes for new performing arts works, with a focus on Western Sydney artists and companies.
- Curate, contract and produce a performing arts program across Parramatta Lanes festival sites, including major and minor commissions and programmed presentations.
- Support artists where necessary through mentorship, professional development and pathways into further major festival presentation opportunities.
- Collaborate with CoP teams on production logistics, technical requirements, WHS, risk assessments, permits and compliance.
- Work with CoP’s Production Manager to manage production schedules, rehearsal timelines, budgets and deliverables.
- Prepare artist briefs, performance run sheets, technical schedules and onsite documentation.
Contract Period + Weekly Expectation
- This is a 12-month contract, with the option to extend until December 2028.
- Role requirements include three days per week from late March 2026 for 12 months , with no hours allocated across December/January and approx. 38 hour weeks in October.
- Minimum two days per week in the office at 9 Wentworth St, Parramatta
Selection Criteria
The successful candidate will have proven experience producing performing arts projects for festivals, venues or large scale public events.
The successful candidate will also have:
- Experience commissioning and developing new live performance works.
- Demonstrated project management capability, including managing multiple creative projects simultaneously.
- Experience working with artists and companies from diverse communities.
- Understanding of WHS, technical production and live performance delivery in public or non-traditional spaces.
- Ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.
- Desirable: Experience delivering performance projects in outdoor, site specific or night time event contexts.
- Desirable: Experience managing logistics for international touring artists.
- Desirable: Strong knowledge of Western Sydney’s performing arts ecology
