About the Australian School of Performing Arts
Home to the Australian Girls Choir and ASPA Education, ASPA is a leading provider of performing arts programs to over 6,500 students nationwide. With offices across six Australian cities and Singapore, our team of over 60 staff is passionate about creativity, collaboration and excellence. We are on the look out for a highly musical, people-focussed, organised educator, to work alongside our Venue and Events Coordinator in Melbourne
About the Role
Based in our Kew East Head Office and working closely with our national Music and Production team, this permanent part-time role includes:
- A consistent 22.5 hours of administrative work per week
- Weekly tutoring of Camerata (second most senior choir) from 6:30pm to 9pm each Wednesday (school terms)
- Additional evening and weekend work at AGC venues and events
- A mix of office and work-from-home arrangements in line with our Flexible Work Policy can be discussed with the right applicant
- Remuneration – Office rate approx. $45 per hour. Tutoring rate – $61 per hour
Key Responsibilities
- Report to the Head of AGC Teaching & Learning in our Kew East Head Office
- Play a pivotal role supporting on-the-ground operations and leading music staff
- Complete administrative tasks relating to class content, events and concert production, staff and chorister development
- Co-tutor, Camerata, each Wednesday evening of the school term
- Mentor and train the tutor team of approximately 50 people
- Provide musical leadership at AGC events
- Absorb artistic information and communicate this effectively to tutors, choreographers and choristers
- Build relationships with staff, parents and choristers
Qualities that will make you successful:
- Have relevant performing arts, choral and/or education qualifications
- Exhibit the ability to lead and provide support to the VIC tutor team
- Demonstrate innovative teaching strategies and methods of extending our senior choristers
- Embrace our creative approach, wide-ranging repertoire and professional standards of performance
- Show interest in teaching a broad curriculum that is more ‘music theatre’ than ‘traditional choral’
- Be energetic, innovative and flexible
- Excellent presentation and well-developed communication skills
- Have a valid Working with Children’s Check
