Marketing Coordinator

Australian Theatre for Young People is looking for a digital-savvy storyteller to deliver company-wide marketing, communications and digital presence.

Australian Theatre for Young People’s vision is to empower the next generation of storytellers through theatre. For more than 60 years, ATYP has been the national home for young people to create, perform and tell their stories. We give young Australians the tools and confidence to enrich the nation’s cultural life with their own voices and ideas.

 

POSITION SUMMARY

The Marketing Coordinator is responsible for delivering ATYP’s marketing, communications and digital presence across all programs, productions and organisational activity.

This role leads the creation and delivery of content, campaigns and communications that promote ATYP’s work with young people, artists and audiences nationwide. Working closely with all Producers, the Marketing Coordinator ensures that ATYP’s voice is clear, consistent, engaging and reflective of the company’s youth-centred values.

The role spans social media, website, email marketing, campaign delivery, asset creation and audience engagement, and contributes to organisational storytelling, ticket sales, program visibility and development activity.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Digital Marketing & Social Media

– Create, schedule and publish content across ATYP’s digital platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and other relevant channels

– Capture and edit photo and video content from programs, workshops, rehearsals and events

– Monitor engagement and respond to audience enquiries in a timely and professional manner

– Maintain a forward content calendar aligned with seasonal programming

 

2. Campaign Planning & Delivery

– Plan and deliver marketing campaigns across productions, workshops and learning programs, artist development programs, fundraising campaigns and organisational announcements

– Develop timelines, content plans and campaign rollouts aligned with program schedules

– Work with Producers to ensure campaigns reflect program priorities and audience targets

 

3. Website & Content Management

– Maintain and update ATYP’s website, including production pages, workshop listings, program updates, artist and company information

– Ensure all content is accurate, accessible and up to date

– Work with the Programs & Development Officer on website functionality and updates where required

 

4. Asset Creation & Brand Management

– Create and manage marketing assets, including digital graphics, posters and flyers, program imagery and campaign visuals

– Ensure all content aligns with ATYP’s brand identity and visual style

– Liaise with external designers, photographers and videographers as required

 

5. Copywriting & Communications

– Write clear, engaging and consistent copy for social media, email campaigns, website content, marketing campaigns, program descriptions and organisational announcements

– Support the Artistic Director & CEO with messaging, announcements and media communications

 

6. Email Marketing & Audience Engagement

– Manage email marketing campaigns, including newsletters, targeted audience communications and program announcements

– Maintain audience lists and segmentation strategies

– Support audience growth and engagement across ATYP’s programs

 

7. Ticketing Support & Audience Information

– Support marketing alignment with ticketing and program information

– Work with the Programs & Development Officer to ensure consistency between the website, ticketing platforms and campaign messaging

– Assist in responding to ticketing enquiries where required

 

8. Analytics & Reporting

– Monitor and report on marketing performance across campaigns and platforms

– Provide insights into audience engagement, ticket sales trends and campaign effectiveness

– Contribute data to support reporting, grants, acquittals and Annual Report content

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Due to the nature of the role, some out-of-hours availability will be required from time to time, including for productions, program activity, stakeholder functions and peak operational periods.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS

– Demonstrated experience in marketing, communications or content creation

– Strong copywriting skills, with the ability to write clear, engaging and audience-focused content across multiple platforms

– Proven experience managing social media platforms and delivering digital content strategies

– Strong design skills using Canva (or similar), with an eye for layout, branding and visual consistency

– Experience in creating and editing short-form video content, including Reels and videos for social media

– Experience maintaining and updating website platforms such as Framer, Squarespace or WordPress

– Excellent organisation, time management and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple campaigns simultaneously

– Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and with external creatives

– Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and respond to changing priorities

– High level of professionalism, initiative and accountability

– Current Working With Children Check

 

DESIRABLE SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

– Experience in arts marketing, youth arts or cultural organisations

– Confidence in basic video editing tools such as CapCut, Premiere Pro or similar

– Experience with email marketing platforms such as Mailchimp

– Experience with ticketing platforms such as Humanitix

– Understanding of audience development and engagement strategies

– Experience working with photographers, videographers and external designers

– Interest in or understanding of youth-led storytelling and emerging artists
