Lead Creative Producer

LEAD CREATIVE PRODUCER 

Reports to: Artistic Director & Executive Director Direct Reports: 

  • Senior Producer
  • Producer & First Peoples Projects Lead 

Role Purpose 

The Lead Creative Producer leads the development, delivery and resourcing of Chunky Move’s artistic program across production, touring, partnerships and investment. Working closely with the Artistic Director and Executive Director, the role translates artistic vision into viable, well-resourced projects that strengthen the company’s reach, reputation and sustainability. 

The Lead Creative Producer plays a critical leadership role in major works, international engagement, partnerships, philanthropy and stakeholder relationships. 

This is a part time role 0.6 FTE / 3 days per week.  

Key Responsibilities 

Program Development & Delivery 

  • Work with the Artistic Director to develop and deliver the company’s annual artistic program in alignment with the Strategic Plan, Equity Action Plan and Development Plan. 
  • Produce the Artistic Director’s major works, leading high-level negotiations with partners and stakeholders to achieve strong creative, financial and production outcomes. 
  • Prepare major project budgets in collaboration with the Senior Producer and Production & Operations Manager to ensure financial viability. 
  • Drive the company’s international engagement strategy in collaboration with the Senior Producer. 

Partnerships, Investment & Touring 

  • Develop and secure co-production, co-presentation and touring partnerships locally, nationally and internationally in line with strategic KPIs. 
  • Seek and secure project funding opportunities from federal and state sources to support creation, presentation and touring. 
  • Support the Artistic Director to lead corporate partnerships and commercial strategies. 
  • Support the Artistic Director to broker philanthropic support for major works and strategic initiatives. 

Stakeholder & Sector Engagement 

  • Identify and facilitate opportunities for the Artistic Director to connect with artists, venues, festivals, presenters and partners aligned to the company’s vision and strategy. 
  • Cultivate relationships that enhance Chunky Move’s profile, reputation and cultural presence. 
  • Strengthen relationships with audiences, funders, industry and professional bodies at a senior level. 
  • Work with Producing and Marketing teams to manage and maintain a high-level stakeholder database. 
  • Advocate for the artistic program internally and externally, ensuring the company’s purpose and vision remain central to its narrative and activity. 

Equity, First Peoples & Culture 

  • Support the Executive Director and Producer & First Peoples Projects Lead to deliver First Peoples programs in accordance with the First Peoples Engagement Framework. 
  • Contribute to the delivery of the Equity Action Plan and foster a culture of inclusiveness, respect and collaboration. 
  • Help create a working environment that is rewarding for artists, creatives, staff and partners.
