Walkatjara Art is seeking a dynamic and motivated Gallery Manager to join our team at the base of Uluru.This is a rare opportunity to live and work in one of Australia’s most iconic cultural landscapes while contributing meaningfully to the economic and creative empowerment of the local Anangu community.

About Us

Walkatjara Art is the sole Mutitjulu-community owned art centre operating within the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park. The Art Centre supports and promotes the art and culture of local Anangu artists through both gallery and online sales.

About the Role

As Gallery Manager, you will be responsible for driving sales, supporting the General Manager, and overseeing the day-to-day operations of the gallery. You will also play a key role in managing our e-commerce and social media presence, maintaining high standards of visual merchandising, and assisting with content creation and marketing.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Achieving and exceeding gallery sales targets
  • Supporting the General Manager with planning and reporting
  • Managing the gallery’s e-commerce store and social media content
  • Overseeing gallery presentation and customer experience
  • Supporting Studio Coordinators and working alongside Anangu artists in a respectful and collaborative way
  • The ability to work alongside Anangu artists to assist in developing their individual skills

What We’re Looking For:

  • Proven sales experience in a gallery or museum setting
  • Strong digital skills including e-commerce and social media
  • Financial literacy and confident communication
  • High level of professionalism, presentation, and emotional intelligence
  • A warm, affable, and collaborative approach
  • Experience working with artists or in a creative, cultural, or community setting

Desirable:

  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite
  • Experience in e-commerce or website management
  • Experience working with First Nations or Indigenous artists and communities
