Leeton Shire Council

Front of House & Venue Coordinator

After a $12M redevelopment, Leeton’s 95-year old Roxy Community Theatre (our “Palace of Dreams”), is looking for a Front of House & Venue Coordinator!

About the Roxy Community Theatre

The Roxy Community Theatre (The Roxy) is in the heart of Leeton’s CBD. It is an art deco building that was built and opened in 1930 as a cinema and is dearly loved by the residents of Leeton Shire and much admired by many visitors. The Roxy has a very proud history and has been in continual operation since it opened. Proprietor, George Conson – whose vision it was to deliver a “Palace of Dreams” – added a stage in 1933 and Gladys Moncrieff (Australia’s ‘Queen of Song’) performed to sell-out crowds for 5 consecutive nights.

Following a four-year major redevelopment, ostensibly completed in December 2024 and with the finishing touches to Stage 2 scheduled for 2025/26, the Roxy is poised to re-establish itself as the major hub for cultural and community activities in Leeton, servicing the Shire, surrounds, and ideally also regional NSW for some education and training elements of the vision. The venue boasts a main auditorium with 510 seats (180 retractable and 330 fixed in the balcony including dress circle) and a Roxy 2 Theatrette which is due for completion by the end of the year (black box, with 54 retractable seats). The full theatre specs can be found here

The Roxy Community Theatre is also blessed with a 65-person strong “Dream Team of Volunteers” who support day to day operations and are a key part of the Roxy’s workforce.

To realise our big, bold vision for performing arts, Leeton Shire Council is seeking to fill this position for a two-year, fixed term basis (while future operational and governance arrangements are being explored). So, whether you’re ready to step up with at least 2 years of experience under the belt, or you’re in the twilight of your career and ready to leave a legacy, we are keen to hear from you.
