First Nations Arts Officer
Help celebrate and strengthen audience engagement with First Nations art through engaging programs and storytelling.
- Fixed Term (Until 30 June 2029) / Part Time
- Monday to Friday, 30 hours per fortnight
- Rata amount of $86,153 – $91,629 per annum (LGIA Stream A Level 3) + Superannuation
- Location – Rockhampton
As the First Nations Arts Officer at Rockhampton Museum of Art, you will help shape and deliver culturally informed engagement and learning programs that reflect and celebrate First Nations knowledge, perspectives and artistic practice.
Working within the Audience Engagement and Learning team, you will contribute to the development and delivery of accessible programs for diverse audiences, ensuring First Nations cultural protocols and governance are embedded throughout the Museum’s activities.
You will collaborate closely with First Nations stakeholders, artists, community groups and internal teams to design programs, support cultural governance, and contribute to planning, marketing, evaluation and program logistics.
This role is ideal for someone passionate about cultural learning and community engagement, who can build strong relationships, communicate effectively and help bring vibrant First Nations-focused programming to life at Rockhampton Museum of Art.
What we are looking for
- Knowledge in fields such as arts First Nations protocols, cultural awareness, lifelong learning, cultural studies, arts or related disciplines.
- Ability to plan your workload, achieve set goals, meet deadlines, and coordinate short term projects and project-based tasks.
- Ability to work within a cultural governance mechanism and strengthen First Nations governance in collaboration with key stakeholders and staff.
- Ability to embed First Nations knowledges and protocols in planning and programming and create cultural programs and projects for a broad audience.
- An understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with them.
- A passion for Arts and cultural programs and projects.
