Exhibitions & Programs Lead

Museums & Galleries of NSW is looking for a motivated and organised individual to join its touring team.

9 Month role with possibility of extension

Start date: as soon as possible

Are you passionate about working with and supporting museums and galleries in NSW? Would you like an opportunity to manage touring exhibitions across NSW and Australia?

This role might be the chance you’ve been looking for to establish a career in the cultural sector and build a network of contacts across the country, by working with the highly respected touring organisation Museums & Galleries of NSW (M&G NSW).

Museums & Galleries of NSW is seeking a suitably experienced person to work alongside the Exhibitions & Programs Manager and Exhibitions & Programs Coordinator to deliver M&G NSW’s national touring exhibition program and other related activities and projects in a parental leave cover role.

As part of this team, you will oversee the delivery of the touring exhibition program, including managing freight schedules, developing promotional material, liaising with touring exhibition host venue staff, preparing tour manuals, providing technical support and working with venues on implementing installation plans.

Core Knowledge and Experience Required

  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of public and regional gallery practices and standards, and the contemporary art sector in Australia
  • Excellent organisational and administration skills with demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to work with both professional and volunteer staff in galleries and museums throughout NSW and beyond
  • Project management, contract and budgeting experience with the ability to coordinate more than one project simultaneously
  • Demonstrated excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, strong inter-personal and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent computer skills including word-processing, database, web and publication design programs – including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and InDesign, desirable
  • NSW Driver’s license

 Desirable

  • Demonstrated practical experience as an exhibition technician, with skills across 2D, 3D and digital artwork preparation and installation
  • Experience in the development and delivery of exhibitions and associated activities in public gallery or museum environments or similar, touring experience desirable
