Executive Producer/General Manager: Sweet Charity - in Concert

Prospero Arts seeks a very experienced Executive Producer/General Manager to assist in delivering Sweet Charity – in Concert, at QPAC's Concert Hall.

Prospero Arts is Brisbane’s premier professional musical theatre company, producing first class, locally made musical theatre. Through an annual program of semi-staged, concert style musicals, we support Queensland artists and deliver exceptional entertainment. 

Based at Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC), our work fosters artistic, social, and economic outcomes, showcasing local talent alongside creatives of a national calibre.

Sweet Charity – in Concert, is our second and final production in our 2025 Concert Series, at QPAC’s Concert Hall. We will be holding auditions in early August, looking to go on sale mid August, with ten days rehearsals commencing late November. Opening Night will be Thursday 11th December, with six or seven performances, closing Sunday 14th December 2025.

Based in Manly, Brisbane, this full-time role reports to the Managing Director/Creative Producer, and is supported by a small, collaborative team including the Production Co-Ordinator and external advisors. We value open communication, adaptability, and a proactive, solutions-focused mindset.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership-Collaborate with the Creative Producer and Production Co-ordinator to implement the company’s strategic vision.-Contribute to long-term planning for growth and audience engagement.

Financial Management-Oversee budgeting, financial planning, reporting, payroll management.-Ensure productions stay within budget while maintaining artistic quality.

Operations and Administration-Manage daily operations including HR, legal compliance, and venue liason.– Coordinate logistics with support from the Production Co-Ordinator.

Stakeholder Engagement-Liaise with funding bodies, sponsors, QPAC executives and other venues/community partners.-Advocate for the company within the arts sector.

Team Leadership-Lead administrative and production staff.-Support staff development and wellbeing.

Marketing and Audience Development-Collaborate with marketing teams to grow audiences.-Oversee ticketing and customer service strategies.

 

Required Experience and Qualifications

• Relevant qualification in arts, arts management, business administration, or equivalent experience.• Strong communication and negotiation skills, extensive social media experience an advantage.• Extensive experience in commercial musical theatre and executive producing/general management, with a thorough understanding of LPA requirements for both contracting and budgeting, particularly in regard to rostered hours and overtime consideration.• Proven ability to manage complex arts projects with multiple stakeholders.• Ability to prioritise and deliver multiple projects from inception to completion.

 

Desirable Skills and Attributes:

• Produce high-quality productions across varying scales.• Liaise on local and touring productions with external partners.• Evaluate potential projects for inclusion in the annual program.• Manage budgets and negotiate contracts with creatives and artists; with competent Excel skills• Manage the company website and collaborate on marketing campaigns and digital resources, with possible knowledge and understanding of software including Canva.• Oversee production logistics and monitor ticket sales.• Engage with creative, industry, and funding partners.• Ensure cross-departmental coordination for project delivery.• Pursue financial and other resources with the Creative Producer.• Represent Prospero at industry events.• Support the company’s strategic objectives.
