Curatorial Project Officer, First Nations Art

The NGV is seeking a Curatorial Project Officer, First Nations Art who will provide curatorial administration duties

VPS 3.1: $79,122 per annum + 12% superannuation

Full Time, Fixed Term for 2 years

The National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) is seeking a Curatorial Project Officer, First Nations Art who will provide curatorial administration duties that support the First Nations Art curatorial department.

ABOUT THE POSITION:

In consultation with the Senior Curator, you will support the First Nations Art department, including:

  • Developing and maintaining project schedules and budgets, preparing proposals, reports and correspondence.
  • Contributing to the safekeeping, maintenance and development of the Collection, including acquisition administration and undertaking cataloguing duties.
  • Assisting with administration and research to support the implementation of displays and exhibitions and providing support for major projects and cross-disciplinary projects, as required.
  • Researching, collating and drafting written information for a range of uses, including displays, publications and communications and resources. As required, assisting with researching, preparing, and delivering or assisting with Audience Engagement and Learning programs, events and initiatives related to the Collection, displays and exhibitions.

To be successful, you will have demonstrated knowledge of First Nations cultures and histories and a sound knowledge of First Nations art. Tertiary qualification in a related field, coupled with direct or transferrable experience in administration and project management, publishing or research within a related setting is highly desirable.

Proficient skills in Adobe Creative Suite, Office Suite, and WordPress are advantageous.
