Creative Producer

Experienced theatre producer wanted to deliver high-quality productions, manage budgets and artists, and help drive JUTE's regional artistic program.

JUTE Theatre Company is seeking an experienced Creative Producer to join our programming team and play a central role in shaping and delivering our artistic program. 

This full time role is based on site in Cairns, and reports to the Executive Artistic Director. 

About JUTE

JUTE Theatre Company is a leading regional theatre company based in Cairns. We create, develop and tour contemporary theatre and work closely with artists and communities across Queensland to strengthen regional theatre practice. 

The Creative Producer is a key conduit between artists, partners, funders and the organisation – ensuring programming is strategically aligned, rigorously managed and artistically ambitious. 

The Role

Working closely with the Executive Artistic Director and producing team, the Creative Producer will: 

  • Contribute to the development of JUTE’s artistic program
  • Manage the implementation of productions and creative developments
  • Oversee budgets, schedules and contractual arrangements
  • Maintain relationships with artists, presenters, funders and community stakeholders
  • Support funding applications and acquittals
  • Establish and oversee evaluation frameworks
  • Ensure regulatory compliance and safe delivery of programs

This role requires strategic thinking alongside strong operational producing capability. 

About You

You bring: 

  • Extensive experience producing and touring theatre in varied presentation contexts
  • Experience commissioning and developing new theatrical works
  • Demonstrated community engagement practice
  • Strong project management and financial literacy
  • An established network within national and regional theatre communities
  • High cultural competency working with diverse communities

A Queensland Blue Card (or ability to obtain) is required.
