Creative Learning Lead

100 Story Building is looking for a Creative Learning Lead to design and deliver storytelling workshops for young people.

About 100 Story Building

100 Story Building is a creative writing centre, social enterprise and registered charity dedicated to amplifying the voices of young people. We focus on children and young people who experience barriers to education and creative opportunities, especially those from culturally and linguistically diverse communities and with lived experience of socio-educational disadvantage. Through dynamic programs like Story Hubs, Early Harvest, and public workshops, we support young people to build literacy, confidence and belonging.

 

Role Purpose

The Creative Learning Lead is responsible for the design, delivery and evaluation of programs that are in education settings according to the strategic vision, programs and workshops.

 

Position Accountabilities

Program Delivery and Facilitation

  • Effectively deliver creative workshops and programs using established materials and guidelines.
  • Focus on achieving defined objectives and contributing to program success. 
  • Generate programming ideas and solutions, displaying creative problem-solving and initiative.
  • Adapt facilitation techniques to meet the diverse needs of participants, ensuring inclusivity and engagement.
  • Support evaluation processes by providing relevant data, photographic documentation and observations.
  • Implement feedback from supervisors to enhance program delivery.
  • Mentor and support volunteer participation in programs
  • Monitor personal performance and seek feedback to enhance effectiveness. 
  • Adhere to organisational policies and procedures, including those related to child safety and wellbeing.

Communication and Collaboration

  • Communicate clearly and professionally with participants, colleagues, and stakeholders. 
  • Collaborate with team members to support program objectives and participant outcomes.
  • Apply inclusive practices to ensure all participants feel respected and valued. 
  • Engage in ongoing learning to enhance cultural understanding and responsiveness.
  • Seek guidance when faced with challenges beyond scope of role.

Administrative Support

  • Maintain accurate records of program attendance, participant feedback, and session outcomes.
  • Assist in the preparation of materials and resources for program delivery.
  • Support logistical arrangements for workshops, resources and events as directed.

General

  • Demonstrate values and behaviours that contribute to a collaborative and high-performance team.
  • Represent 100 Story Building and its values in professional contexts, displaying leadership and confidence in our work.
  • Ensure that administrative and record-keeping tasks are undertaken in a timely and effective manner.

  • Perform ad hoc duties as reasonably requested including covering for colleagues (and your manager, where appropriate) during absence.

 

Person Specification 

Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree in Education, Teaching or Co-Design/Facilitation or equivalent
  • Experience in designing, delivering, and evaluating creative, educational, or community-based programs, particularly in school or community settings.
  • Experience in mentoring staff within a performance and values-based framework.
  • Strong track record in stakeholder engagement. 
  • Experience working within and meeting program and workshop budgets.

Knowledge and Technical Expertise

  • Sound understanding of the Victorian Curriculum, co-design methodologies, creative learning pedagogies, and place-based program design.
  • Familiarity with Child Safety Standards and compliance frameworks.
  • Proficiency in digital tools and IT systems including MS Office, Google Suite, Xero, Mailchimp, Slack, Social Media platforms, CRMs, and emerging technologies. This includes familiarity with AI-supported tools such as Notion, used to streamline knowledge sharing, enhance project management, and improve organisational efficiency and responsiveness.
  • Knowledge of cultural safety, equity, and inclusion principles, particularly in working with young people and marginalised communities.
