Creative Director - Inviting Expressions of Interest

A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity at a pivotal moment to submit an EOI to shape the future of a much-loved South Australian cultural organisation.

Inviting Expressions of Interest

  • Developing and sharing South Australian stories made by South Australians for South Australians
  • Celebrating 30 years as a key part of the theatre and performing arts sectors in Adelaide & South Australia
  • A rare opportunity to shape the future of Brink and its place in the South Australian and national sectors

_________________________________________________________________________________

Brink Productions is seeking a Creative Director with a wealth of creative ideas, a compelling artistic vision and the ambition and leadership to bring those ideas to life.

Founded in 1996 by Flinders University drama graduates who identified a gap in the cultural life of South Australia, Brink has spent three decades creating, producing and presenting amazing theatre for South Australians.

With a rich history that includes highly regarded works that went on to national and international acclaim including The Ecstatic Bible, When the Rain Stops Falling, Memorial, The Aspirations of Daise Morrow, Symphonie of the Bicycle and more recently Looking for Alibrandi, Brink has developed, supported, produced and presented work with many South Australian writers, directors, dramaturgs, designers, composers, musicians and creatives.

As we celebrate our 30th anniversary and reflect on our achievements and the people who have shaped Brink, we recognise how much the cultural landscape, funding environment and ways audiences engage with stories and storytelling have changed since 1996. We want to build on that history while exploring fresh possibilities for the work we make, the partnerships we develop and the audiences we reach.

As we enter the next stage of the Brink story and develop our new strategic direction, we want to take the opportunity of a change in artistic leadership to hear fresh ideas for the work we make, how we make it and how we connect with audiences.

Instead of going to market with a customary Position Description for a new Artistic Director, we have taken a different approach. We invite creative practitioners across the performing arts to express their interest in becoming our Creative Director.

We want to hear your ideas for the work Brink could create, the artists and collaborators we could bring together, and the audiences we could reach. Tell us about the experience, vision and leadership you would bring, and how you would work with the Board to turn creative ambition into work that connects with audiences.

The title Creative Director reflects our ambition for a leader who combines creative vision with a commitment to Brink’s overall development, its relationships and its place in the performing arts sector.

There are no requirements for how the Expression of Interest should be structured or what it should contain, however we will be looking for EOIs that understand and are aware of the creative, financial, funding, structural, audience and sector requirements and constraints that Brink operates in.

This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity at a pivotal moment to shape the future of a much-loved South Australian cultural organisation.
