We are looking for a marketing and media manager to help us continue building momentum and engagement across all events and experiences we offer.

Location: Woodfordia, 87 Woodrow Road, Woodford, Queensland (option to work 1-2 days from home)
Employment Type: Permanent fixed-term contract, full-time
Salary: $80,000 per annum
About the Role
The Chief Megaphone is a marketing and media manager role that helps us continue building momentum and engagement across all Woodfordia events and experiences. Over 38 years, we’ve developed a strong Woodfordia identity and engaged community that maximises word-of-mouth marketing and repeat engagement across generations.
Success in this role requires understanding and applying the Woodfordian style of promotion – writing with humility, without marketing hype, being honest about our challenges, and sharing excitement about our passion for living in a better world. Everyone involved becomes a promoter: patrons, organisers, performers, volunteers, stallholders, service providers, sponsors, and partners.
This role balances our community-focused approach with reaching new audiences locally, nationally, and internationally through targeted campaigns based on analysis and market trends, maximising website and social platform engagement, and utilising stakeholder networks.
You’ll work as part of a lean team with big dreams, contributing to podcast and video production while amplifying our message across multiple channels.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Marketing & Campaign Development
- Develop and deliver creative marketing strategies aligned with Woodfordia’s vision
- Present strategies and deliverables to internal teams and senior leadership
- Conduct analytics reporting across multiple platforms
Content Creation & Storytelling
- Create compelling content across print, digital, and video that reflects Woodfordia’s authentic voice
- Develop creative briefs and guide creative direction for all public-facing communications
- Collaborate with teams on web pages, presentations, programming collateral, signage, newsletters, and marketing materials
- Contribute to Radio Woodfordia podcast production and documentary projects as part of a our creative team
Digital & Social Media Management
- Manage social media strategy and content across Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and other platforms
- Optimise websites and maintain visual identities in collaboration with our Head of Technology
- Manage design and uploading processes using content management systems
Media Relations & PR
- Facilitate requirements of media partners including television, radio, and press
- Draft media releases and arrange interviews
- Manage media accreditation processes
- Oversee media monitoring and coverage capture
- Build relationships with regional tourism bodies and implement promotional campaigns
Event Marketing Coordination
- Coordinate distribution of festival promotional materials
- Support media and promotional activities during events
- Work with agencies on paid marketing campaign implementation
About You
Essential
- Tertiary qualification in marketing, communications, media, or related discipline, and/or equivalent demonstrated experience (3+ years)
- Proven experience in digital marketing, particularly within tourism, arts, or events
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with strong creativity and innovative design abilities
- Proficiency with Microsoft/Google suite
- Ability to multi-task and manage competing demands under pressure with high attention to detail
- Understanding of paid advertising campaigns
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and collaborative mindset
- Professional and approachable manner
- CRM platform experience
- Graphic design experience with Canva or Adobe Creative Suite
- Love of cultural festivals and appreciation of folk culture and music
- Commitment to inclusion, wellbeing, and creating supportive work environments
Desirable
- Knowledge and experience of Woodford Folk Festival (highly favourable)
- Photo and video editing skills
- Photography skills and photo-editing software proficiency
- Event management experience
