Warnayaka Art and Cultural Aboriginal Corporation

Art and Culture Centre Manager

Lead a respected Aboriginal-owned art and culture centre in the heart of the Tanami Desert

Warnayaka Art and Cultural Aboriginal Corporation is seeking a capable, community-focused leader to guide the next chapter of one of Australia’s oldest and most artistically distinctive remote Aboriginal art and culture centres.

Based in Lajamanu, a remote Warlpiri community in the Northern Territory, the centre supports around 20 active artists and plays a vital role in cultural continuity, intergenerational learning and community wellbeing.

As Manager, you will oversee day-to-day operations and long-term strategy, working in partnership with the Warlpiri board of directors. Your responsibilities will span staff and studio management, governance support, financial oversight, exhibitions and sales, partnerships and community engagement. You’ll ensure the organisation continues to thrive as a place of cultural expression, creativity and economic opportunity.

What we offer

  • $85,000–$95,000 + superannuation at the current super guarantee rate
  • Rent-free furnished housing + utilities
  • Relocation allowance + annual return travel
  • Salary packaging (PBI)
  • 6 weeks’ annual leave + leave loading + additional time in lieu

What you’ll bring

  • Proven leadership in visual arts, cultural or community organisations
  • Cross-cultural experience, ideally with Aboriginal communities
  • Strong financial, team and program management skills
  • A collaborative, respectful and grounded leadership style

Location

Lajamanu is a remote Warlpiri community approximately 580 km southwest of Katherine and 900 km from Darwin. The town has essential services including a store, health clinic, school and sports facilities. The art and culture centre is a vibrant, welcoming space where art, culture and community come together.
