APS Level 6 - Supervisor, Work, Health and Safety and Wellbeing

The APS6 Supervisor, WHS and Wellbeing will be an experienced HR professional with demonstrated experience in WHS and Rehabilitation.

The successful candidate for this position will have extensive knowledge of the Comcare rehabilitation and compensation scheme and related legislation. You will have a history of building and maintaining stakeholder relationships to achieve positive outcomes and have exceptional interpersonal skills including empathy, compassion and listening. You will have exceptional liaison and negotiation skills and the ability to influence others.

You will be able to develop networks across the Australian Public Service and work collaboratively with people to achieve mutually satisfactory outcomes.

The ideal candidate would also have:

  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to provide complex advice and guidance regarding WHS and rehabilitation, working within the APS, Comcare and the Agency’s legislative and policy frameworks.
  • A passion for supporting the wellbeing and health of staff and a commitment to positive workplace culture.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Demonstrated integrity and the ability to work as an effective team member who can be agile and innovative.
  • The capacity to work under limited direction with reasonable autonomy and accountability.
  • Make decisions using good judgment, expertise and knowledge for all WHS and Rehabilitation matters.
  • Commitment to providing accurate and specialist advice and service to clients, with an emphasis on communicating effectively with a diverse range of staff and stakeholders.
  • High level verbal and written communication skills with the ability to write reports, procedures and policy relating to the position.
  • Demonstrated experience contributing to and delivering project work as required, including planning, coordination, stakeholder engagement, and reporting.
  • A strong understanding of, and commitment to, diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), including the ability to work respectfully with diverse teams and embed inclusive practices into WHS and wellbeing initiatives.
