APS Level 5 - e-Commerce Coordinator

The National Museum of Australia is looking for an APS5 e-Commerce Coordinator to strengthen the museum’s commercial operations.

Role Purpose

The E-commerce Coordinator (APS5) plays a key role in strengthening the museum’s commercial operations by leading day‑to‑day E-commerce activity, digital content, customer service, stakeholder engagement, and project support. To be effective, the successful candidate must bring proven experience in E-commerce operations and online retail, with strong skills in digital marketing, SEO, analytics, and optimisation to ensure the Museum Shop’s online presence is performing at its best. Strong analytical skills, clear communication, commercial awareness, and an understanding of online customer behaviour and trends are essential to success in this role.

Key Accountabilities

  • Lead day‑to‑day E-commerce operations to ensure the Museum Shop’s online presence is accurate, engaging, and optimised for growth.
  • Apply proven experience in E-commerce, specifically Shopify for digital marketing, SEO, and analytics to improve online performance and drive retail revenue.
  • Develop and maintain high‑quality digital content, including product listings, imagery, and promotional material, aligned with brand and commercial priorities.
  • Monitor and analyse online customer behaviour, trends, and performance data to identify opportunities for improvement and implement evidence‑based enhancements.
  • Coordinate targeted online marketing and promotional activities in collaboration with internal stakeholders to grow audience reach and engagement.
  • Strengthen the Museum Shop’s digital customer experience by ensuring clear communication, responsive service, and user‑focused improvements.
  • Work collaboratively across the Commercial Business Unit and wider museum teams to support operational priorities and contribute to commercial outcomes.
  • Support the APS4 E-commerce Officer by providing guidance, sharing expertise, and contributing to their capability development and professional growth.
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of workflows, processes, and digital practices that enhance efficiency and support the Museum’s commercial strategy.
  • Maintain strong stakeholder relationships and communicate effectively to ensure alignment across online, onsite, and outreach retail activity.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to Work Health and Safety (WH&S) by actively supporting a positive safety culture, following the Museum’s WHS policies and procedures, and complying with reasonable instructions to ensure alignment with the Work Health and Safety Act 2011.
