Adelaide Fringe Festival: The Wet Spots

The Wet Spots are an internationally acclaimed cabaret duo, and you can understand why when you have the sometimes awkward pleasure of seeing their performance. This husband & wife team (Cass King & John Woods) from Vancouver Canada have a fantastic blend of lyrically very clever songs, audience participation and sing-a-longs while dealing with some risqué and sometimes kinky material, but in the nicest possible way.

It was a couple talking and singing about a few different kinky and sometimes normal aspects of sex while making the unusual seem quite normal. Regardless of the topic, what they were doing seemed some how very mainstream and not a bit unusual, until you stopped to think about the subject. What a terrific ice breaker for a first date.

I loved the presentation of the show, its vaudevillian costumes and appearance was perfect for their performance while the famous Spiegeltent gave a brilliant location showcase them.

The whole night is a sometimes eye opening, cringing, laughing out loud, slightly uncomfortable but thoroughly entertaining, however not one for the faint hearted amongst us.

Adelaide Fringe Festival: The Wet Spots
Showing at the Garden of Unearthly Delights
The Spiegeltent until 21 Mar at 10pm.
Tickets cost $30 (Conc, $25)
