Over 450 attendees are expected for the The Business of Comedy Conference.
Representatives from Federal and State Governments, metropolitan and regional councils, technology and creative industries, producers, directors, writers and performers from across the Comedy Economy, as well as NGOs, social media influencers, celebrities, training and development providers and members of the public eager to engage with this growing industry — all coming together for three days.
Coinciding with the Melbourne International Comedy Festival. Each day brings together decision makers, key opinion leaders, and industry thought leaders, with the goal to “enhance the comedy sector’s economic value across Victoria and Australia while enriching the lives of its creators.”

2026 Comedy as Industry Leaders from government and Not-For-Profit (NFP) organisations will be meeting with industry leaders from film, TV, radio and podcasting, ticketing and more and discussing innovation, challenges, and overall trends within comedy as an industry. Who is this day for? State and federal agencies such as Creative Victoria, VicScreen, ArtsPay, ArtsHub, Geelong Comedy Festival, and Melbourne International Comedy Festival.
Day 2: Friday – 17 April
2026 Innovation, Technology & Collaboration Innovators of the business of comedy meet on day two to discuss collaborations, demonstrate technology, trouble shoot and brainstorm. Who is this day for? Large and medium sized businesses within the creative industries. Organisations attending include Rode Microphones, Blackmagic Design, Humanitix, and Mezzanine Films.
Day 3: Saturday – 18 April
2026 Careers, Creativity & Workshops The general public who are interested in a career within comedy are invited to meet thought leaders within the creative spaces and even attend stand-up, improv and skit writing workshops. Who is this day for? Those starting their comedy journey and those supporting that journey. Hard Knock Knocks Comedy School and Improv Pit.
