Want to record your own music but not sure where to begin? The Brand X Tech Team are running a Tech Talk on DIY Recording, with a focus on the basics of recording for musicians and podcasters with little to no sound experience.
Headed by Jess Smallwood, Brand X’s audio technician, participants will learn the basics of:
- Setting up and bouncing sessions in Pro Tools and Logic
- Recording with an interface
- Microphones
Brand X’s Tech Talks are run by the City of Sydney Creative Studios’ in-house technical team who have a wealth of experience across sound, music, and live production. With diverse backgrounds as engineers, producers, and technicians, they’re passionate about supporting artists and sharing their expertise.

Who is this session for?
Anyone! You don’t need any prior experience in sound recording to participate in this Tech Talk. The aim of this session is to invite individuals of all abilities to ask questions, learn some skills, and to show you that there’s no reason to feel intimidated by the recording process or equipment.
