Enjoy an afternoon of culture, history and connection at the National Library of Australia as they host Pasifika Film Fest 2026 with a screening of Remathau: People of the Ocean, and the short documentary Tales of the Diaspora.

About Remathau: People of the Ocean
Remathau: People of the Ocean is an award-winning documentary following the journey of Nicole Yamase, a young marine biologist from Micronesia who ventures to the deepest part of the ocean and begins an even deeper dive of self-discovery as she reconnects with her people’s resilience and oceanic roots.
About Tales of the Diaspora
The short documentary feature Tales of the Diaspora tells the story of Johnny, a Cook Islander/Samoan born and raised in the United Kingdom.
Despite the distance from the Pacific Islands, she and her community actively create opportunities to learn and share cultural traditions. The film aims to spark a conversation on how we can help bridge the gap between the diaspora and cultural knowledge holders.
