Join ABC Illawarra’s Melinda James in an insightful In Conversation event with Isobel McArthur, writer of Pride and Prejudice* (*Sort Of), with other special guests to be announced soon.

For over 200 years, the admiration of Regency author, Jane Austen has never waned. Adaptations, interpretations, fanfiction, parodies and purists, the world of Austen has not slowed down.

Now, coming to Wollongong in Season 2026, the West End hit Pride and Prejudice* (*Sort Of) is a wild and witty, karaoke fuelled take on Lizzie and Darcy’s iconic love story… told by the servants of Longbourne.

The working class has always been there in the background of Austen’s novels – to serve as plot devices, proof of wealth, or a reflection of their masters. Now they take the microphone (literally), reimagined, valued and named by Isobel McArthur and ready to rock what we think we know about Pride and Prejudice.

Alongside a general love of all things Jane, this in-conversation event takes a dive into the untold side of Austen’s world – working class, a changing era, and happy endings (sort of).
