Heaps Decent will transform Randwick Town Hall into a vibrant creative hub through a free week-long youth program spanning music, digital media and multidisciplinary arts. Evening workshops will invite the wider community to create alongside artists, culminating in a public showcase celebrating the original work and talent developed throughout the week.
About this workshop
From Feeling to Song is a practical songwriting masterclass led by Sydney R&B artist Betty.
Drawing on her smooth, emotionally driven songwriting style, Betty will guide participants through the process of turning feelings, memories and everyday observations into original songs. The workshop will explore lyric writing, melody, hooks, song structure and the relationship between personal storytelling and musical identity.
Participants will take part in guided creative exercises and begin developing an original song, either individually or in collaboration with others. The session is suitable for aspiring musicians, poets, performers and anyone curious about expressing themselves through music. There is no expectation to sing or perform, and no previous songwriting experience is required.
Since 2021, Betty has toured internationally and across Australia, headlining Oxford Arts Factory, The Lansdowne and The Vanguard and is currently supporting Tim Finn on his national tour.
