Join PICA in celebrating 35 years of Hatched: National Graduate Show, a landmark exhibition presenting the next generation of contemporary artists from across Australia. Showcasing recent graduates selected for their creative rigour and distinctive approaches, Hatched offers a vital snapshot of emerging practice nationally.
Since 1991, Hatched has supported over 1,400 artists, many of whom have gone on to significant national and international careers. As the only exhibition of its kind in Australia, it remains a key platform for early-career artists and reflects PICA’s ongoing commitment to artist development.
Beyond the exhibition, artists benefit from tailored professional development opportunities and residencies, supporting their transition into sustainable practice.
In 2026, PICA continues its partnership with The University of Western Australia to present the Dr Harold Schenberg Arts Awards, with a total prize pool of $50,000—the largest in Australia for emerging artists.
Discover ambitious new work and engage with the ideas shaping the future of contemporary art.
Exhibition runs 1 August – 4 October (Tue-Sun, 12–5pm)
