What happens when young creatives are given the freedom to build their own worlds?
You get Shakespeare turned into rap. Dance, theatre, music, and performance colliding. Characters, stories, and ideas that refuse to be one thing.
And then…you get D/VISION.
At the centre of it all? YOU’RE A VISION – the world’s greatest talent contest.
8 nations make it, 4 battle through the semi-finals. 1 takes the crown.
Saturday 29th August @ The Bowery Theatre
Saturday 12th September @ Bluestone Church Arts Space
Each year, Western Edge offers a creative playground for emerging actors and artists from Melbourne’s west through its beloved community theatre program, Edge Ensembles.
The weekly program brings together young people in Footscray and St Albans, and culminates in a brand-new theatre work — devised and performed by participants themselves — for audiences across the west.
This year, the rebels are ready to fight the algorithm.
In a world run by AI efficiency, autonomy is taken at birth. Every human is assigned their tasks, occupation, social points — and even who to date. Emotions are considered inefficient, so everyone wears sunglasses to hide what they really feel.
All roads lead to YOU’RE A VISION, the world’s greatest talent contest, where citizens must represent their country and bring glory to the winning nation.
But those who don’t follow the rules lose points. And those with the lowest scores are sent to The Unmasking, a gladiator-style event where emotion is allowed to erupt for one night only.
Would you conform, perform, or fight against the system?

ABOUT EDGE ENSEMBLES
Each year, Western Edge works with young people and artists (aged 13–30) in Wyndham, Brimbank and Maribyrnong to create an original Australian work to be performed in venues across the West. The performance outcome is a chance for community members and wider audiences to witness the ideas, concerns and visions of the next generation of artists coming out of Melbourne’s West.
