On Wednesday night as part of the Emerging Writers Festival Catherine Deveny, former Age columnist was a special extra ‘key note’ speaker at ‘In the Pub – I Write What I Want, When I Want’ a forum to talk about freelance writing. She burst on to stage grabbing the mike, then hastily staggered off again crying ‘Where’s a phone, who’s got a phone, I’ve got to send a twitter’.

Her notoriety and currency are the talk of the town now, but she agreed to come along to the festival before she got sacked so controversially from the Age.
