Art school won’t take new students

One of the nation's key arts schools has announced it will not take new studio-based students in 2017 pending a major restructure.

The Sydney College of the Arts (SCA), part of the University of Sydney, has announced a moratorium on new students in 2017 for their Bachelor of Visual Art degree.

The news follows a tumultuous month, in which the University of Sydney and UNSW Art and Design School in Paddington announced, and then retracted, a plan to merge to create a super-school of visual arts excellence.
