Plans to overhaul vocational loans could have problematic side effects for the arts sector, arts advocates have warned.

The Minister for Education Senator Birmingham has foreshadowed changes to the vocational loans scheme to counter rorting by private providers. The changes are expected to include a fee cap but Birmingham has indicated the value of this cap will depend on the vocational nature of the course.
