Philip Hunter Photo: David Shaw
Victorian artist Philip Hunter has died from cancer, aged only 58. Hunter will be remembered for his earthy and dramatic landscapes with lashings of white gestures.
‘He is not so much interested in place as in experience of place,’ wrote Peter Haynes in a 1998 catalogue essay of landscapes he described as essentially ‘not topographical’.
