NSW receives $291 million boost for arts and culture

NSW Arts Minister announced this week results of 2020-21 NSW Budget committing $291 million into new initiatives.

The delivery of the NSW budget comes at a time when the state faces an incredible deficit – the first in almost a decade, and a direct belly-punch from COVID-19.

Sitting at a new $16 billion deficit, there was some good news however, wrapped in the bad.

Minister for the Arts Don Harwin reported (17 November) that the arts, screen and culture sectors are set for a boost with, ‘the commitment of $291 million into new initiatives designed to attract investment, support jobs and reactivate the State’s cultural venues.’
