Submissions are now open for the 2026 Young Composer Award (YCA), a national competition offering young Australian composers the rare opportunity to compose for and work directly with a professional symphony orchestra.

Now celebrating its 22nd year, the Young Composer Award is adjudicated by Willoughby Symphony Orchestra Associate Conductor Sarah Penicka-Smith and provides a vital industry pathway for emerging orchestral composers, supporting the development of original work through professional rehearsal, performance and recording opportunities.
