Apply now for Brand X’s contemporary performance program – The Flying Nun.
The Flying Nun is a space to embrace risk, inviting artists to explore experimental and innovative concepts and formats that push both their own practice and the audience’s experience.
This program aims to fill a gap. Rarely is there an opportunity for new projects in the late stages of development to be supported with space, time, and money, allowing projects to jump the final hurdle and evolve into fully produced shows.
Each project gets:
- A $2,600 stipend
- 1 week in our venue to bring their show to life
- A 2-night performance run and majority box office take.
The artist’s challenge is that work presented must be fully produced and show-ready as part of our programmed season.
Performances are to run for approximately one hour and may span a range of disciplines, including theatre, contemporary performance, dance, movement, physical and visual theatre, spoken word, live music, and interdisciplinary art.
We offer a flexible application process, options include:
-
an online application form for written and video applications (also available in other formats)
-
interview for oral application
-
or get in touch and talk to us about what works for you
An interview or oral application is open to any applicant who’d find an interview preferable or more accessible than a written application. Click here to book an oral interview application.
We generally require completion by the due date but allow short extensions to support access requirements and fluctuating capacity. Applicants must contact us before the advertised deadline to discuss this option.
