The Northern Territory Government is seeking expressions of interest to maximise the use of the State Square Building.

Construction is currently underway with completion anticipated mid 2026.

The State Square Building will comprise 3 stories and a basement level, presenting a unique opportunity suitable for a range of uses.

The building is a striking example of contemporary architecture designed to reflect the Territory’s unique environment and cultural identity. The architecture draws from the Territory’s geology, landscape, and climate, aiming to create a strong sense of place.

Located at proposed Lot 11295, the building is in prime position in the Darwin CBD, approximately 500m from Darwin’s Smith Street Mall and the Waterfront Precinct.

Expressions of interest now open

The Northern Territory Government is seeking proposals from potential operators that can demonstrate a clear vision for activating the space in a way that supports local jobs, enhances community engagement, and strengthens economic, social or cultural or outcomes across the Territory.

Proponents are encouraged to consider a wide range of potential uses and delivery models for the State Square Building.
