fortyfivedownstairs is excited to announce our fifth annual open-call small works exhibition: SMALL!
This exhibition is open to all artists, whether you are a child artist, a first-time creator, or an established professional. Every submitted artwork will be displayed in our gallery on Flinders Lane in Melbourne’s CBD, making SMALL! a truly inclusive showcase for artists of all experience levels.
We welcome a diverse range of styles and media, including painting, drawing, photography, prints, textiles, and small sculptural works.
All submitted artworks must meet two simple criteria: they should not exceed 20 x 20 cm (including framing) and must be suitable for wall hanging.
Every artwork will be priced at $150, regardless of the artist’s level or the medium used.
The artworks in the exhibition will be displayed anonymously, ensuring equal opportunity for all artists and encouraging visitors to select their favourites based solely on their appeal. Only when an artwork is sold will the artist’s name be revealed to the buyer.
This year, for the first time, we will be awarding prizes during the opening night on Wednesday, November 26, from 5 to 7pm. The award categories include: Under 18 Prize, Painting Prize, Drawing Prize, Photography Prize, Textile Prize and Mixed-Media Prize. Additionally, visitors will have the opportunity to vote for their favourite work in the People’s Choice Award, which will be announced after the conclusion of the exhibition.
