Scholarships 2027: Explore, question, discover and share | National Library of Australia
Researchers undertaking a PhD are invited to apply for the National Library of Australia’s 2027 Scholarships, a program that funds postgraduate research powered by Australia’s largest national collection.
Eight Scholars will each receive $10,000 to support onsite research at the National Library in Canberra, including access to our uniquely held or extensive collections.
‘Our Scholarships program opens the door for researchers to explore questions and discover new perspectives. What begins as curiosity in our collections can grow into knowledge shared far beyond the Library,’ said Cathie Oats, Director, Reader Services.
Scholars join a vibrant intellectual community and work alongside experts and peers to explore the unique stories, histories and perspectives held across one of the world’s great research collections.
National Library of Australia Scholarships are open to Australian citizens and permanent residents of Australia who have commenced a PhD program at any university in Australia or overseas. International students undertaking PhD studies at Australian universities are also eligible to apply.
These Scholarships are made possible by the generosity of our philanthropic partners, whose support helps researchers create new knowledge and share it with the nation.
Applications for NLA Scholarships will close on Friday 1 May 2026 at 5:00pm AEST.
