R|Short Program: K’gari Field Trip is a 4-day, 3-night experiential program for artists held on World Heritage-listed K’gari. This immersive opportunity invites participants to explore the convergence of art, science, technology, and the environment in one of Australia’s most culturally and ecologically significant landscapes.

Through workshops led by University of the Sunshine Coast academics, guest artists and senior practitioners, and with the support of Butchulla/Badtjala Traditional Owners, artists will engage in hands-on learning and experimentation across emerging creative technologies including spatial audio, XR/AR, drone photography, and locative media.

Rooted in respect for Indigenous knowledges and connection to Country, the program offers embodied experiences, collaborative exploration, and space for interdisciplinary experimentation.

Artists will gain insight into applying creative technology to their practice in ethical and innovative ways.
