Sculpture

Tara and District Family Support Services, with support from a grant provided by Shell QGC for various community initiatives, is inviting proposals from artists to commission a sculpture artwork for the Tara Lagoon Parklands.

Tara, a small town south of Dalby and Chinchilla in Southwest Queensland, features the popular Tara Lagoon Parklands. The Lagoon offers camping year-round and regularly attracts Grey Nomads.

Tara and District Family Support Services are inviting expressions of interest (EOI) from artists to develop concepts for a free-standing sculpture that will be a significant addition to the Parklands.

Project Objectives

The proposed artwork should:

  • Respond creatively and sensitively to the cultural and natural environment of Tara Lagoon Parklands and the Tara and District region.
  • Create a point of attraction for locals and tourists alike.
  • Not detract from the peaceful ambience of the site.

Budget

The budget for the artist is up to $44,000 (incl GST). Additional funds are available to meet the costs of installing the artwork and an official unveiling.

Project Brief

To obtain a copy of the Artists’ Brief, please contact Scott Alston at scott@makplanning.com, who is managing the project for Tara and District Family Support Services.

Expressions of Interest will be accepted until 20 November 2025.
