Montsalvat invites Expressions of Interest from artists, writers, composers, filmmakers, sculptors, performers, designers and creative practitioners for our Project Space studios, short-term studio tenancies of minimum 3 months and up to 12 months.

Project Space studios are a core part of Montsalvat’s Creative Program. These studios are designed to:
- support and promote creative production
- prioritise making and experimentation
- balance commercial and creative practice sustainably
- foster connection between artists and the wider Montsalvat community
Project Space artists are able to access shared facilities including our library.
Who We’re Looking For
We welcome applications from artists and practitioners working across a broad range of disciplines, including expanded and cross-disciplinary practices. Applicants should be interested in:
- working within a community-focused, artist-led environment
- engaging with Montsalvat as a public place
- contributing to a diverse and supportive creative ecology
Community Expectations
Project Space artists are expected to:
- actively engage with the Montsalvat community
- use their studio regularly for a creative project or practice
- be comfortable engaging with visitors on site
- recognise their role in Montsalvat’s ongoing story
- share feedback and insights to support future artists
Montsalvat, in turn, commits to:
- maintaining studios and shared amenities
- fostering artist connections and community gatherings
- promoting resident artists across Montsalvat channels
- providing discounted access to shared and bookable spaces
How to Apply
Artists interested in a Project Space are invited to submit an Expression of Interest.
EOIs are assessed in alignment with Montsalvat’s Creative Program objectives of community, diversity, expanded practice and artist-led programming.
