The Mosman Art Prize is Australia’s premier open painting prize. The Mosman Art Prize is one of the longest running and most significant municipal art prizes in Australia.
The prize is an acquisitive prize of $70,000 sponsored by Mosman Council. The winning entries have formed the basis of the Mosman Art Collection, a valuable and historic collection that surveys Australian painting.
Previous winners form a roll call of Australian art luminaries: Guy Warren, Grace Cossington Smith, Lloyd Rees, Cressida Campbell, Noel McKenna, Elisabeth Cummings, Lucy Culliton, Michael Zavros, Jumaadi, Natasha Walsh, and David Griggs. Sydney-based artist Gemma Smith was last year’s winner.
The Mosman Art Prize offers four further art awards in addition to the acquisitive major prize:
The Margaret Olley Commendation Award
The Allan Gamble Award (for the built environment)
The Guy Warren Emerging Artist Award
Viewers’ Choice Award
