Gasworks Arts Park has been the south-side hub for Midsumma Festival and a summer destination for high-quality arts for more than 11 years. Midsumma is Australia’s premier queer arts and cultural event, bringing together a diverse mix of LGBTQIA+ artists, performers, communities and audiences.
We are Calling Out for artists and companies to apply to be involved in our Midsumma program of performing arts, visual art experiences and site activations! We are looking to build a diverse, inclusive and experimental program spanning visual-art, drama, comedy, circus, music, theatre and performance art.

Performance stream: Are you looking for a perfect venue for your next Midsumma performance? Gasworks Arts Park has two theatres to suit your needs. Click here for more information and costs. All Midsumma programs will receive a venue hire discount. Visual Art / Site-Activation Stream: Have you got an idea for an exhibition at Gasworks? We have two gallery spaces available and welcome multi-disciplinary applications. Click here for details. Midsumma artists presenting work in our gallery spaces will receive a venue hire discount. A select number of exhibitions will not need to pay a venue hire fee. Do you have an idea that doesn’t need a gallery? We want to hear from you! We are interested in programming site-responsive artworks that speak to the history, buildings and park.
