Public Art

The City of Whittlesea is seeking Expressions of Interest from artists as part of Lively Lalor Laneways – a creative placemaking initiative transforming the Lalor Shopping Centre precinct into a welcoming and culturally rich destination.

There are two separate opportunities

Mural EOI

We are looking for mural artists whose work will reflect the diversity, stories and everyday life of Lalor, creating public artworks that celebrate community, identity and place. Local artists and artists from all backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Selected artists may also have the opportunity to deliver community engagement activities alongside their commission.

Gobo EOI

The City of Whittlesea invites local artists and artists with a strong connection to Lalor or the City of Whittlesea to submit an Expression of Interest to develop original artwork for a series of gobo light projections. These illuminated artworks will activate laneways and public spaces after dark, celebrating Lalor’s place and identity through striking patterns, symbols and visual storytelling.

In each instance, the commissioned artworks will become part of a broader program of murals, lighting, live music and community events that further activate the vibrant precinct.
